Do you think it’s true, or is it just me? Maxi skirts are extremely trendy, super feminine and need no extra frills to spice up the look. It is probably the reason why maxi skirts have simply refused to go out of style–and, for me, the versatile maxi skirt is at the top of my essential list.
Over the years, floor-grazing skirts have seen a number of transformations. The 1960s and ’70s ushered in floaty printed boho skirts (which, hello, are back in a big way), the ’80s were all about voluminous tulle versions with elastic waistbands, and the ’90s brought with it minimalist column skirts perfected by designers like Calvin Klein and Jil Sander. Today’s designers have taken the maxi game to the next level, be it Oscar De La Renta’s Silk-faille maxi skirt or GIVENCHY’s Sequin-embellished printed maxi skirt, point is that its in vogue!
Maxi skirts beside being “full-on” fabulous, can tickle everyone’s fancy- no matter your style or budget. I love maxi skirts for their cunning ability to be extremely comfy yet chic.
The best tip I have to wearing a maxi skirt is to pump yourself up—you can wear wear them (yes, even if you aren’t that tall!), No other piece of clothing so cleverly skims the hips and thighs, or–when worn with heels–gives the illusion of legs. Hence looks awesome on you! Now, comes the hard part—just how do you wear a maxi skirt?
For a sporty chic look you can go for a fitted one with a high slit on the side with a bare midriff and tennis shoes! For a more bad-ass urban look pile on jewellery and rock some crazy nails and shades.
Be Creative With Your Tops—Because maxi skirts are so long, you can get away with turning anything into a top, including tank dresses, other skirts even one-piece bathing suits 🙂
