Charms are fascinating! Don’t you think so? The idea of wearing an intricately detailed miniature version of the things that represent an aspect of your personality or life has always fascinated me. Sadly, the charms in India in the past have been quite limited to butterflies, stars & flowers and I have never been able to relate to them.
If you see the fashion industry today, it’s evident that they are quite lured by the charms , brands like Pandora are coming up with new charm styles in all ranges everyday. Fashion giants like Louis Vuitton too have brought the glamour back to charm bracelets, declaring them to be the must-have accessory.
Few weeks back I had an interesting conversation with Rebekkah who is from the United States but settled in India and creates the most amazing silver charms. (Very interesting person and more on her in the future maybe 🙂 ) What totally fascinated me was the inspiration behind her charms- India. The lovely aspects of life in India as seen by her reflect beautifully in her charms. From the Auto or tuk-tuk that she loves to ride with her children, kolhapuri chappal that she loves to wear , Mangos which she feels isn’t sweeter anywhere else in the world to the Ketli (tea kettle) which she totally finds adorable and so on!
I checked out her website and instantly knew I would be sharing this with you lovely readers. The charms are made of silver and have a very delicate mix of Indian and modern. So here is a quick sneak-peek into what her charms look like and how much I liked them.
I preferred to wear it as a single pendant on a chain, however each individual charm is a well-crafted entity in its own, string them together and they become an irresistible ensemble. You can bunch them up on a necklace, bracelet or even anklet. I would also style it on the zipper of my handbag!
