Clutches are simple to stitch and work well with ethnic styles as well as casuals ones. Oversized ethnic clutches are currently a rage. If you do not have one and are wondering where to buy em, you need not worry! Just follow the instructions and create one for yourself.
1. Select the fabric for the base, lining & cover
2. Get all other basic tools & materials together
3. Take the fabric, the lining & adhesive cloth fusing and cut all three into one big piece (Front & back), each 13 inches wide and 24 inches (8*3) inches tall.
4. Iron the adhesive cloth fusing to the wrong side of each lining and stitch the wrong side** of the outside base fabric to the lining from 3 sides leaving the top one open. Once done, turn the pieces right side out, then turn the open edges of the outside and lining under 1/2 inch and press them flat. Topstitch along the pressed edges using matching thread.
5. Fold one part as shown in the figure and attach the zipper ( one side to the base and other to the folded part) And then stitch the other two sides ( As shown)
The flap is a printed cloth in this clutch. You can decorate the flap with beads, laces, buttons etc. In order to close the clutch you can use a button, Velcro or a magnet.
Tips:
1. You can make this clutch in 1.5 yards of fabric.
2. Cotton & silk works best for the front fabric. You can use a cotton lining in all cases. These fabric can be bought from any retail fabric shop.
3. You will need access to the sewing machine for stitching. To get a neat look, avoid stitching it with needle & thread.
** Every fabric has a wrong side, the side that people don’t see 🙂

i cannot understand the figure no. 5 ….the place which should show the pink colored lining cloth ..it shows the outside cloth instead .have you stitched the outside cloth on top of the lining cloth(inside).
