Watches, who uses them to actually check time? They are accessories more than time keepers. We would love a small collection of watches to go with our various styles wouldn’t we.
Today’s D.I.Y Project will help you convert your old watch into a new accessory (Trust me you don’t need to be a full-on expert) and adds tons of bang to your wrist with just few simple steps.
What you need:
- An old watch
- Fabric for the strap
- Matching thread
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Fabric glue
- Velcro for the end-clasp of the strap
- Sewing machine or sewing needle
Step 1
Take your old watch and cut the original straps off of your watch. You are now left with just the dial of your watch.
Step 2
Select the fabric that compliments the dial of your watch best.Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist, and take a measurement of the circumference of your wrist. Make sure you leave room for seam allowance and you can add extra inches depending how loose you’d like it.
Step 3
Take a single strip of fabric(Can be rectangular/ tapering). Fold the fabric showing the wrong side and stitch one end of the strap leaving one side open in order to turn the strap inside out. Repeat the same step for the second strap.
Step 4
Now turn it inside out to get the right side and stitch the open end of the strap with sewing needle. Iron the watchband to flatten the edges.
Step 5
Insert the 2 straps in the two pins of the dial from both side.
Step 6
Attach the Velcro at the end of both the straps using the fabric glue and voila!!
IT’S READY!!!
So, hunt for that old watch which you picked few years back and doesn’t qualify as being trendy anymore and get to work!
